Neverland: Pay for Performance
In an effort to force improvements in the quality of patient care, Medicare now refuses to reimburse hospitals for the treatment of so-called "never events" -- hospital acquired conditions such as bedsores or hospital-acquired urinary tract infections.  For more information, read the latest edition of Healthwire (November, 2008).

Online Continuing Education Credits
AFT Healthcare has expanded its professional development offerings to include online courses that provide contact hours free of charge for AFT Healthcare nurses.  In the coming months, additional courses will be offered for nurses and other healthcare professionals. Check out the course on safe nurse staffing and earn 1.5 contact hours (November, 2008).
